Effective Presentation Skills

The study of how to give effective presentations dates back to ancient Greece. Around 350 B.C. Aristotle wrote his famous Rhetoric, now considered to be one of the first formal books on the subject. Now over 2,000 years later, we are still struggling with the same problems the Greeks encountered and that speakers have struggled with throughout the ages.

Before becoming comfortable as a presenter, you need to learn some basic skills and then actively seek places to practise those skills. The more experience you gain, the more proficient and comfortable you will become.

All of our programmes can be customised to suit your individual organisation's needs. Participants are filmed and receive on-the-spot feedback as well as group critique.

Workshops are limited to allow as much practise of new skills as possible.

The objectives of the programme are to:

  • Answer the fundamental questions of how to prepare and deliver an effective presentation
  • Explain the psychology of addressing a group of people and their varying styles
  • Provide practical skills for delivering a presentation
  • Explain how to use visual aids

Change Management

Change is inevitable and change management is not a 'fad' - the demand for change management skills will increase in the future.  Organisations don't actually change themselves; they change when the people in them change.  Change happens at three levels; individual, team and organisation.  As individuals change, their actions shift the team.  Because the individual level is the decisive level in the change process, getting commitment to the change from individual employees is where change management efforts need to be focused.  Resistance to change is universal, the single most important factor for delivering successful project results is overcoming that resistance and gaining buy in and support for change, ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

The objectives of the programme are to:

  • Describe the stages and processes of creating major change
  • Explain the cycle of change and recognize their own and other's stage in that cycle
  • Recognize their individual 'optimal performance zone'
  • Deine their own level of stress and recognize the stresses of change in others
  • Develop techniques to obtain buy-in and minimize resistance
  • Create a 30 day personal action plan

DISC Behavioural Profiling

“You can get everything you want in life by helping others get what they want!” – Zig Zigler

The DISC language, although not always known as DISC, has been in existence since people began watching people.

By learning the language and opening your “behavioural eyes,” you will take a quantum leap in the effectiveness of your interpersonal communications as you interact daily with people.

DISC is the universal language of observable human behaviour. It is NOT a measure of a person’s Intelligence, Values, Skills and Experience, or Education and Training. It IS a measure of Behaviour and Emotions. It is the language of “how we act.”

DISC's validity is proven just by watching people. Every day we live in a wonderful laboratory where we can observe people and learn how to communicate better.

Scientific research has proven that people, in terms of “how they act,” universally have similar characteristics. By learning these characteristics, we can increase communication; therefore increasing our understanding of each other and improving our communication ability.

We can provide DISC profiles of you and your staff members, to help your team to improve its interpersonal communication skills.

Our charges are very competitive and we can action your request on the same day. Our reports are internet-based and confidential.

We can also provide insight into the DISC profiling results, and help you and your team understand how to tailor your communications to make them more effective.

Auckland CityFacilitation

The concept behind facilitation is quite different to training. Rather than just telling the participants something, our trained and highly skilled facilitators work together with your group to come to a conclusion.

Everyone has their say and ideas are brought out in an open and accepting forum. When people feel their views and ideas will be listened to, some really valuable work can be done which filters through the rest of the organisation.

The unbiased external facilitator can cut through office politics, company culture and personalities to get to the crux of the issues.

Perhaps you are seeking group buy-in to a certain outcome, such as a mission statement or change strategy? If so, the facilitator can work with the group, nutting out the issues and questions and leading the group to a conclusion. The facilitator gets the creative, problem-solving juices flowing and then helps your team come to conclusions and solutions.

A great facilitator is:

  • Impartial
  • Non-judgemental
  • Objective
  • Confident
  • A great questioner and listener
  • Assertive
  • A leader
  • An effective communicator

If you'd like to talk about how the facilitation process works and how one of our team can bring out the best in your team, please contact us for an obligation-free chat.
